The Goonies series: a movie license rebuilt around new bonus engines
Unlike a film tie-in that stops after recreating familiar scenes, The Goonies series is Blueprint Gaming's changing framework for bonus wheels, symbol modifiers and treasure collection. The Goonies established the licensed adventure in 2018 on a 5x3 grid with 20 paylines, expanding wilds, pick bonuses, a wheel and a 10,000x maximum.

What survives each rebuild
- Story code: pirates, treasure and the film's characters keep the releases tied to the same screen world.
- Bonus density: wheels, free spins, pick features and reel modifiers matter more than base-game simplicity.
- Symbol intervention: expanding, sticky, walking, mystery or swapped symbols repeatedly alter the grid.
- Collection: later entries increasingly turn gathered symbols into multipliers, jackpots or cash awards.
Jackpot King kept the original 20-line shape in 2019 but added a progressive-jackpot layer and reduced the listed non-progressive maximum to 500x. The Goonies Return made the larger sequel move in 2021: it retained 20 paylines while combining sticky and walking wilds, mystery symbols, stacked symbols and a multi-level bonus around a 50,000x maximum. The screen remained familiar, but the number of ways a feature could modify it increased sharply.
The Goonies: Hey You Guys cut the grid to 10 paylines and concentrated on symbol collection, increasing multipliers, fixed jackpots and a cash collector. The Goonies Megaways then discarded the fixed-line foundation for a 6x7 grid and 15,625 ways, adding bonus selection and direct bonus access. The Goonies 3 Quest For Riches stayed with that 6x7, 15,625-way scale but shifted attention toward sticky symbols, changing reel sets and additive symbols.
Four stages of the treasure hunt
- The Goonies: the 20-line movie-slot base, led by wheels, picks and reel modifiers.
- Jackpot King and Return: two different expansions, one through a progressive layer and one through a 50,000x multi-feature ceiling.
- Hey You Guys: a smaller 10-line collector model with fixed jackpots.
- Megaways and Quest For Riches: the move to 6x7 grids, 15,625 ways and denser symbol transformation.
- Quest for Treasure 2: a high-volatility 4,096-way branch with a 5,000x maximum.
The Goonies Quest for Treasure 2 reduces the scale to a 3x5, 4,096-way setup and makes expanding and mystery symbols part of a higher-volatility model. Across the line, Blueprint treats the license as a stable narrative shell while repeatedly replacing the mathematical route to the treasure.
