Sweet Alchemy slots: from a 9x9 cluster grid to bingo and 5x5 sequels

Unlike a conventional candy-slot sequel line, Play'n Go's Sweet Alchemy franchise does not keep one reel model and merely adjust the bonuses. It moves between a large cluster grid, a lottery-style bingo offshoot and two 5x5 interpretations. The shared identity comes from candy, magic, cascades and collection systems rather than a fixed pay structure.

Sweet Alchemy set the foundation in 2018 on a 9x9 grid with cluster wins, cascades, level progression and randomly introduced bonus symbols. Its 94.5% RTP, high volatility and 3,000x maximum frame it as a collection-driven game in which repeated tumbles matter more than paylines.

Sweet Alchemy Bingo made the sharpest format break in 2020. It converted the theme into a medium-volatility lottery game with 97.57% RTP and a listed 104,469x ceiling. Sweet Alchemy 2 returned to cascading slot play in 2023, but compressed the action to 5x5 and added energy collection, sticky wilds, 3x3 mega symbols, a bonus wheel, a progressive jackpot and respins that increase the win ways.

Sweet Alchemy 100 keeps the 5x5 grid and energy loop while shifting the decisions toward symbol swaps, random wilds and a choice of free-spins modes. Its 15,000x maximum exceeds Sweet Alchemy 2's 10,000x, so the later branch raises the ceiling without returning to the original 9x9 scale. Across the line, the meaningful progression is format first, then bonus control and reward potential.
