Rich Wilde series: Book of Dead opens into multiple adventure formats
Book of Dead set the Rich Wilde series in motion for Play'n Go in 2016, fixing the explorer character to a high-volatility 5x3 format with 10 paylines, a book scatter and an expanding-symbol free-spins round. The line grew by treating that framework as a home base rather than a restriction: later releases send Wilde into different mythologies and, in the largest departures, replace paylines with cluster wins.

Tome of Madness made the first major structural break in 2019. Its 5x5 cluster grid uses cascades, symbol removal, wild multipliers and colossal symbols instead of the original 10-line book loop. Shield of Athena returned to a 5x3, 10-line screen in 2020 but used sticky wild respins and lifted the listed ceiling to 10,000x, showing that the character could carry a new bonus system without abandoning conventional reels.
The Rich Wilde constants
- Serial-adventure framing: Wilde moves between Egyptian, Greek, fantasy and Asian settings while retaining the same treasure-hunter role.
- Feature-led risk: free spins, wild behavior and symbol modifiers determine the main reward pattern.
- Two engine families: 5x3 reel games remain the baseline, while the Tome branch uses 5x5 clusters and avalanches.

Amulet of Dead stayed close to Book of Dead but added stacked symbols, expanding wilds and increasing or random multipliers. Wandering City widened wins to 243 ways and carried a 10,000x ceiling. Rich Wilde and the Tome of Insanity revisited the cluster branch in 2024 with a listed medium-volatility profile, reel modifiers, symbol swaps, 3x3 mega symbols and a 20,000x maximum. Pearls of Vishnu then kept cascades but shifted toward a meter, prize wheel and multi-level bonus, with a lower 2,000x ceiling.
