Great Rhino series: from fixed paylines to Megaways and back
The Great Rhino series is Pragmatic Play's African wildlife franchise, built on rhino imagery, stacked symbols, wilds and feature rounds that repeatedly reshape a familiar safari slot. Its main distinction is structural range: the line moves from a medium-volatility 20-payline game to a high-volatility Megaways build, then returns to fixed lines with a much larger ceiling.

Great Rhino established the 5x3, 20-payline foundation in 2018. Free spins, respins and stacked symbols carry a comparatively compact 900x maximum, so the original represents the restrained end of the franchise rather than the model followed by every sequel.
Great Rhino Megaways rebuilt that foundation in 2020. Six reels, up to 200,704 ways, cascades and a selectable free-spins mode move the game into high volatility, while 3x3 mega symbols create much larger blocks of matching wildlife. The 20,000x ceiling is more than twenty times the original's maximum, making this the franchise's decisive risk and scale shift.
Great Rhino Deluxe returned later in 2020 to the 5x3 grid and 20 paylines, but not to the first game's limited reward profile. Symbol collection and multipliers support a 6,242x maximum, placing Deluxe between the readable fixed-line original and the more volatile Megaways edition. The wildlife code stays constant; reel geometry and payout pressure separate the entries.
