Aztec Gems established the stripped-back version in 2018. Its 3x3 grid combines stacked symbols, wilds and multipliers with medium volatility and a 375x maximum. The limited ceiling and small frame make symbol placement easy to read, with no elaborate bonus system competing for attention.
Aztec Gems Deluxe rebuilt that frame in 2020 without abandoning the 3x3 layout. Aztec Gems Megaways made the largest structural break in 2025, moving to a 6x7 layout with 512 ways, changing reel sets and random multipliers.
